Week Two Takeaways: The Pivotal In The NFC South

@DanT_NFL is here to cover all the essential takeaways from NFL Week Two. Read on about the NFC South.

Week Two is in the books for the NFC South! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.

DJ “Touchdown” Moore

It was not an excellent day for Moore or the Carolina Panthers, for that matter. This team is in for a long season with Baker Mayfield under center. However, the bright spot is that Moore found the endzone this weekend. It may not seem like much, but considering he has never broken four touchdowns in a single season, it looks like a big deal that he has his first in Week Two. Considering he has finished as WR2 in three of his last four years with so few touchdowns if he can get close to double-digits, he is almost a lock for a WR1 year.

Chris Olave Target Hog

Week Two was another low-scoring affair between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints in an NFC South matchup. Despite the lack of production, one rookie stood out amongst the rest of the field. That was a theme for Week Two. Olave saw 13 targets on Sunday but, unfortunately, only hauled in five of them. We have seen Michael Thomas have a WR1 overall season in this offense, primarily by being a target hog. Is that the future that Chris Olave has in store? If so, dynasty managers must be salivating at the idea of Olave in that role.

Leonard Fournette Elite Usage

In a game where Tampa Bay struggled to see any production in the air, Fournette got some elite usage in the ground game. He only gained 65 yards on 24 carries, but it is good to see the coaching staff has the confidence to give such a large workload to Leonard Fournette. Let us not forget that four months ago, Fournetter reported to training camp severely overweight to training camp. In a game where the WR1 was ejected, and the WR2 and WR4 were out with injuries, it is hard to find takeaways, but the confidence in Fournette has to be one of them.

Drake London – Welcome To The League

Many in the dynasty community had London as their WR1 in 2022 rookie drafts. Week Two certainly helped justify those takes. Despite being covered by Jalen Ramsey, London earned 12 targets on the day, which was good enough for a 46% target share. If he can put this performance up against one of the best defenses in the league, then it is wheels up for a top-twelve finish for London in 2022. London converted those 12 targets into eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. This Falcons’ defense is not good, and the team will be playing from behind a lot this season, which is just fine for Drake London’s fantasy value.

Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. The NFC South has many key fantasy players in it. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
