Week One Takeaways: The Best In The AFC North

@DanT_NFL is here to cover all the essential takeaways from NFL Week One. Read on about the AFC North.

Week One has come and gone. We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire week of NFL football to study. The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways!

Browns Run Game Will Dominant

The Cleveland Browns have always prided themselves in their ability to run the ball, and it seems like 2022 will be no different. With quarterback play that can be described as limited at best and a relatively elite defensive unit, running will be the path to victory in Cleveland. This is great for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt but terrible for all the pass catchers. Despite being in a close matchup, Jacoby Brissett only had 38 dropbacks and 34 pass attempts. Amari Cooper and other pass catchers should be downgraded until Deshaun Watson returns in Week 12.

Devin Duvernay Has Emerged As WR2

There were many questions regarding pass catchers in Baltimore once you get past Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman. We now have a little clarity on the issue. Duvernay has emerged as the WR2 on this Ravens offense. He tied Demarcus Robinson with four targets but was much more efficient with his given targets. He converted those four targets into 54 yards and two touchdowns.

Najee Harris Injury Concern

Najee Harris left Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with what appears to be an ankle sprain. Early reports are that Harris should be fine, but an early injury is always a cause for concern. Jaylen Warren serves as the direct backup to Harris and would be in line to start if Najee was to miss time. Warren did not seem very efficient with the small workload he was given. It is worth checking your waivers in more shallow leagues, though.

Joe Mixon Bellcow

Very few running backs saw most of their team’s carries to the extent that Mixon did. He had 27 carries compared to just one for Samaje Perine. Bellcow backs are very hard to find in this league, and it appears Mixon is the definition of one. He converted this volume into an RB8 performance. There will be bigger games ahead, and you should buy now if there is any value in your leagues.

Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
