It is crucial to know when to move on and off players in dynasty fantasy football. In this article, I will talk about my top three QB sells to move before it is too late.
RUSSELL WILSON
Wilson will be an interesting fantasy QB going into the 2022 offseason, especially with the potential that he is traded from the Seahawks. Wilson still has one more year on his contract after the 2021 season, but the Seahawks are looking to be entering a rebuild. With a location, change comes hype, so I would look to move Wilson during the beginning of Free Agency. He was only the QB13 in PPG, and the main issue I am seeing is his rushing upside. He had two fewer attempts per game and is 20 yards less per game compared to last year. I would need a top-12 QB return to move from Wilson, and I believe you can get that with hype entering the offseason.
Here are a couple of trades I would try for Russell Wilson:
1- Russell Wilson for Jalen Hurts & Christian Kirk
2- Russell Wilson for DJ Moore & Leonard Fournette
3- Russell Wilson for Saquon Barkley & Zach Wilson
MATTHEW STAFFORD
Stafford is another QB that feels yucky to move, but I want to move off him sooner than later. The main pieces I would go for is first-year pros like Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Trevor Lawrence. Most dynasty players will not make those trades, but some will if you add a 2023 second on top. Stafford had the second-best season of his career and still has one more year on his deal to be the QB in 2022. But, by moving off of a 33 (turning 34 in February) for a younger QB with less dynasty risk. That is how you keep a dynasty team going.
Here are a couple of trades I would try for Matthew Stafford:
1- Matthew Stafford for one of Trey Lance, Trevor Lawrence, or Justin Fields
2- Matthew Stafford for Zach Wilson & 2023 2nd
3- Matthew Stafford for Austin Ekeler, Jaylen Waddle, or George Kittle
4- Matthew Stafford for Devonta Smith & 2023 2nd
DANIEL JONES
Jones is an easy player to try and trade ASAP, but the main issue is what you can get for him. According to dynastytradecalculator.com, Jones’ value is around Amon-Ra St. Brown, Rondale Moore, Mike Williams, Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley, and even Michael Carter. I would move Jones for all those players. The main concern I have for Jones is he will most likely not have a starting job after 2022 and may even lose the job before then.
Here are a couple of trades I would try for Daniel Jones:
1- Daniel Jones for Calvin Ridley (HIGH UPSIDE)
2- Daniel Jones for JuJu Smith-Schuster & 2023 2nd
3- Daniel Jones for 2022 2.01-2.06 draft pick
FINAL THOUGHTS
One move that has worked for me time and time again is moving one excellent dynasty piece for two or three really good dynasty pieces. That is why I would be looking to move Wilson and Stafford. Both players have concerns for dynasty managers, but if you format a deal correctly, you can set yourself up nicely for the rookie draft or going into the 2022 season. For players like Daniel Jones, I would look to move them before it is too late.
A couple of other QBs I am nervous about losing a job or not getting one are Jared Goff, Matt Ryan, Sam Darnold, Jordan Love, and the Broncos’ QBs. Try to move them early in the offseason before free agency gets crazy. Side note- I like Jimmy G’s chance to get a starting job in 2022, so he is a buy for QB needy teams.
