In dynasty fantasy football, it is crucial to know when to move on and off players. In this article, I will talk about my top 3 Quarterbacks that I expect to have their value increase by the start of the 2022 season and potentially for years to come!
1- Zach Wilson, New York Jets
Zach Wilson is an easy buy during the 2022 offseason. During the first five games, Wilson averaged 11.2 fantasy points per game, and during the last six games of this season, Wilson averaged 15.8 fantasy points per game. 15.8 fantasy points per game would have been the QB16, which is still not great. BUT those games were without his best WR, Elijah Moore. One of the major reasons Wilson is a buy is that he is on a team with the 4th, 10th, 36th, 38th, 68th picks among their nine total selections. That kind of draft capital is key, as well as having young talent like Elijah Moore and Michael Carter.
Here are a couple of trades I would try for Zach Wilson assuming a Superflex league:
1- late 2022 1st FOR Zach Wilson
2- Terry McLaurin FOR Zach Wilson & 2022 2nd
3- Ezekiel Elliot & mid to late 2022 2nd FOR Zach Wilson
2- Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders
Since he joined the league, Derek Carr has been a solid fantasy QB. He has been between QB20 and QB12, with 4 out of his last 6 years above QB18. Most people are out on Carr because they do not see the upside, but I see Carr as a startable QB3 (potentially QB2 if desperate) that you can play based on matchups. Carr has one more year on his deal with the Raiders, so I would expect him to be a starter for one more year and then play on potentially other teams for two or more years to come. One thing to note, if you are in a league that uses SFBX scoring, Carr is a MUST add (as well as Kirk Cousins).
Here are a couple of trades I would try for Derek Carr assuming a Superflex league:
1- mid-2022 2nd FOR Derek Carr
2- Baker Mayfield FOR Derek Carr & 2023 2nd
3- Amari Cooper FOR Derek Carr & 2023 2nd
3- Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Brady is the one player that keeps on giving, especially based on his start-up ADP. While he is in the league, Brady will be a top12 fantasy QB, so he has been and will stay a must-buy for all competing teams! Brady still has one more year on his contract, and if you can make aggressive trades for him before we know for sure if he will be back or not, you can gain an advantage in 2022. Back in the 2020 offseason, I traded 2 third-round picks for Brady when we did not know if he would sign with another team after leaving the Patriots. I know Brady will cost more now, but it is worth it to make competitive offers!
Here are a couple of trades I would try for Tom Brady assuming a Superflex league:
1- Amon-Ra St. Brown FOR Tom Brady
2- Daniel Jones & a 2022 2nd FOR Tom Brady
3- early to mid-2022 2nd FOR Tom Brady
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned in the RB buys article (click here to read it), some of these trades will not work in your league, so it is necessary to be creative. I believe all of these trades are doable, and you should try to see what happens. Be aggressive in trades, especially early in the offseason, even though I would typically hold off on moving 1st round rookie picks as much as possible unless the trade is a slam dunk!
