As of writing this article, an update on Josh Allen’s elbow injury has not been released. The mechanism of injury seems to put Allen’s UCL (Ulnar Collateral Ligament) at risk. This is a common injury seen in baseball pitchers as the overhead throwing motion may stretch and eventually cause the ligament to fail. At this point, we don’t know how severe his injury is.
The worst-case scenario is that this is a complete rupture requiring surgery, and Allen is out for the rest of the season. The best case scenario, this is a mild sprain, and Allen is week-to-week. Given the lack of news thus far, I’d lean toward this being a sprain rather than a complete rupture. The timeline for Allen is week-to-week. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Buffalo plays the “long game” and give their star QB 2-3 games rest.
Keenan Allen – Aggravation of Hamstring Strain, 1-2 Weeks
This is the epitome of how hamstring injuries can be easily aggravated. Allen suffered an aggravation of his hamstring injury later in the week, ruling him out for Week 9. This potentially means that Allen may end up sitting another game or two, depending on how badly his hamstring was aggravated.
Romeo Doubs – High Ankle Sprain, 4-6 Weeks
Doubs has shown flashes throughout this season. However, a high ankle sprain seems to have derailed his impressive rookie season. He is looking at over four weeks of missed time, which suggests that this is more on the moderate side. Positional players historically don’t produce at pre-injury levels after returning in-season from a high ankle sprain. Doubs may be best faded the rest of the season.
Christian Watson – Concussion, 1-2 Weeks
Watson had cleared the concussion protocol before this game but exited early with another concussion. This likely spells a multi-week absence for Watson as he is given ample time to recover to prevent long-term complications fully.
