That’s Going to Leave a Mark – Week 6 Injury Report

Injuries happen, but can you count on your player coming back at full strength? Check out the Week 6 Injury Report with @JohnnyBGoodeDFF

Josh Allen, Shoulder- Should play

X-rays were negative, and Allen could play through his shoulder injury. I expect him to play in Week 7. However, his downfield passing may be limited if this is an AC issue. He may be more protective of that shoulder during scrambling as well. In my opinion, you still need to start him if he’s playing.

Justin Fields, Dislocated Thumb- 4-6 Weeks

MRI showed no ligamentous damage that would require surgery to repair, which is about as good of news as Fields could have gotten. This will still keep him out for multiple weeks. The biggest issue is his ability to grip the ball with the thumb. When he does return, he may be limited in his passing abilities. Count on not playing Fields for at least 4-6 weeks, as even if he does come back, I would want to sit him and see how his thumb impacts his passing, which was already limited.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Back- Week to Week

He was taken to a hospital to evaluate his back; this seems to be more than a run-of-the-mill back strain. It’s unknown to what extent Jimmy is hurt, but expect the Raiders to play it cautiously. His mobility may be even more limited upon returning.

Ryan Tannehill, High Ankle Sprain- 2-3 Weeks

Tannehill has a significant history of his right ankle, including a tightrope procedure to help solve last year’s high ankle sprain. Reports indicate he does not need surgery. There is also no timetable for his return. The Titans are a disaster and may look to the future/rebuild mode.

Damien Harris, Neck and Concussion- 1-2 Weeks

The scene of a player being loaded into an ambulance on a backboard is all too familiar to the Bills. Luckily, Harris suffered what appears to be more of a neck sprain and concussion. Given the severity of his symptoms, prompting a visit to the hospital, I would count on him being out a week or two.

Christian McCaffery, Rib/Oblique- Week to Week

McCaffery appears to have avoided any serious injury, receiving good news after an MRI. There is a good chance he suits up this week, but he also plays on Monday night. Have a Plan B ready, but expect McCaffery to be his usual self once he returns to action.

David Montgomery, Ribs- 1-2 Weeks

Rib injuries can be painful to play through, but it’s a pain tolerance issue at the end of the day. Montgomery did not suffer any fractures, which is a great sign. Expect him to miss a week, maybe two.

Kyren Williams, Ankle Sprain- 1-2 Weeks

Already ruled out Week 7; I would not expect him to miss much more time unless he suffered a setback. This appeared to be mild in nature, but the Rams could play it safe with their talented back and sit him for an additional week. I do not expect this to limit him going forward

Greg Dulcich, Hamstring Strain- 3-4 Weeks

This is a reinjury of the hamstring he had already re-injured. This is the epitome of the risk of hamstring injuries being aggravated early upon returning. Look for Dulcich to be out for several more weeks. This is shaping up to be a lost season for Dulcich.
