That’s Going to Leave a Mark – Week 14 Injury Report

Someone turn off Injury Mode! @johnnybgoodeFF discusses the injuries following Week 14 and that they mean for your fantasy playoffs!

Kyler Murray – Torn ACL, Season Ending

This was quite a devastating injury and something many speculated, considering it was non-contact. We saw Godwin and Gallup return this year at the nine month mark, but it’s much more typical to expect about ten months from surgery for athletes. Murray is unlikely to be available Week 1 in 2023 and may start on the PUP. The long-term outlook for Murray is favorable, as this is unlikely to impact his abilities.

Tyler Huntley – Concussion, Week to Week

After entering the concussion protocol, Huntley seems to have a good chance to play this week. Watch for his status in practice throughout the week.

Russell Wilson – Concussion, Week to Week

This was one of those videos that gave me sympathy pains to watch. Wilson enters the concussion protocol. Progression through the protocol varies from person to person. Given how he looked, I wouldn’t be surprised if he sat out Week 15

Mike Boone – High Ankle Sprain – Season Ending

Boone’s return to the active roster was very short-lived. He lands on the IR, effectively ending his season. From a dynasty perspective, he is likely safe on the waiver wire.

Dameon Pierce – Ankle Sprain, 1-2 Weeks

Appearing to be a “run of the mill” ankle sprain, Pierce could return Week 15 or could be looking at a short absence. Even if he is active, I would expect him to be limited. Probably better to find alternative options Week 15.

Rhamondre Stevenson – Ankle Sprain, 1-2 Weeks

At first glance, this looked like a high ankle sprain that would keep Stevenson out for several weeks. That appears not to be the case. Like Pierce, I find it likely that Stevenson would be limited this week if he plays. New England is not new to using multiple backs, so I expect the Patriots to be fine giving Stevenson some rest time. It would be a good idea to have alternative options ready for Week 15, and to watch his progression in practice closely to determine Week 16 risks.

Corey Davis – Concussion, Week to Week

Davis enters the concussion protocol. Watch his progression throughout the week to determine Week 15 expectations.

Tee Higgins – Hamstring Strain, 1-2 Weeks

Higgins’ Week 14 status is very confusing to me. At one point, it seemed like he tweaked his hamstring in warmups but “snuck onto the field” for his one snap. Nevertheless, we may see the Bengals rest their star WR for at least Week 15. After what happened Week 14, I wouldn’t fault anyone for benching Higgins, just to be sure, if a reasonable alternative was available.

DJ Moore – MCL and Ankle Sprain, 2-4 Weeks

DJ Moore suffered a combo injury of an ankle sprain and an MCL sprain during Week 14. This is likely to keep him out for multiple weeks, depending on the severity of the MCL sprain. I would expect him to be out for at least two weeks. However, I wouldn’t feel confident using him in Week 17 if he is active. As of writing this, he is still pending an MRI on his ankle.

DeVante Parker – Concussion, Week to Week

Kudos to Agholor for recognizing his teammate was clearly concussed and stopping play to have him examined. Watch for Parker’s progression through the concussion protocol this week to determine availability for Week 15.

Deebo Samuel – MCL and Ankle Sprain, 2-4 Weeks

This was one of those injuries that looked far worse than it actually was. There was potential that Deebo had fractured his lower leg. Like DJ Moore, an MCL Sprain takes about 3-4 weeks, depending on the severity of the tear/sprain. With the 49ers looking at preserving Deebo for the playoffs, I expect him to sit at least Week 15 and 16. I would not count on using Deebo for the rest of the 2022 fantasy season.
