Tetairoa McMillan | Player Introduction
A consensus 4-star recruit in the class of 2022, Tetairoa McMillan is the highest-ranked player to ever commit to the University of Arizona. McMillan made an instant impact for the Wildcats, catching 39 passes for 702 yards and 8 TDs in his true freshman season. His receiving total led the nation for freshman. Heading into his second year in Tucson, AZ, McMillan continued to produce.
His 90 receptions for 1,402 yards and 10 TDs, the 5th-most yards in the country, earning him Second Team All-Pac 12 and Third Team All-American recognition. In 2024, McMillan once again flourished. He caught 84 passes for 1,319 yards and 9 scores, this time earning First Team All-American honors and being a Biletnikoff Award finalist. During his tenure, McMillan racked up 3,423 receiving yards, the most in school history.

After finishing the season with 83 receptions for 1,319 yards and 8 touchdowns, Tetairoa McMillan showcased why he’s the type of wide receiver who will elevate any quarterback’s game. Standing tall at over 6’4”, he will be a formidable red zone threat for any team in the NFL. His hands are reliable, and he has a knack for turning routine catches into highlight-reel plays.
Of all the fantasy-relevant positions, wide receiver may be the most top-heavy in this class. Yes, there are talented players, and it is a decently deep group. However, don’t get it twisted. While many talented pass catchers will hear their name called come April, McMillan is an absolute one-of-one on my 2025 Rookie Big Board. No one in this class can match his combination of size and ball skills. He seems destined to be a Top 10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

No. 3 Overall Prospect | Ranked as WR1
Tetairoa McMillan remains the WR1 on my 2025 Rookie Big Board, as his blend of separation and route-running abilities stands out. In a lackluster WR class, McMillan’s collegiate production at Arizona provides an exciting glimpse of what’s still to come.
McMillan needs to improve some of his physicality when it comes to hand fighting and getting off the line of scrimmage, but once he is in his refined route tree, he is tough to stop. Exactly the kind of “alpha” wideout teams need, he will be in contention for a Top 10 selection and likely will be the first true wideout off the board.

No. 4 Overall Prospect | Ranked as WR1
Just like the running back position, I believe this year has a clear-cut top WR, Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan. A towering monster out of the desert, McMillan routinely roasted college corners who were physically incapable of covering him. Over the course of three seasons in Tucson, McMillan put up a program record 3,423 yards receiving. He is a big, physical ”X” receiver who is destined to be an early-1st Round pick.
McMillan will almost certainly go within the first twenty or so picks of the upcoming NFL Draft. He profiles as a highly skilled “alpha” pass catcher. I know that Mike Evans is the traditional comp for McMillan due to his size, but when I watch him play, I see early career A.J. Green—a player who uses his size and length to his advantage but isn’t quite as physical as Evans. If you need a WR in this class, this is your man, plain and simple.
Tristan Cook’s Pre-NFL Combine Rankings
No. 2 Overall Wide Receiver
Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan is the closest thing to a consensus top player at any position. But, I obviously have McMillan as WR2 in the class. That’s more related to the potential of Travis Hunter than a knock on McMillan. In most years (and if Hunter ends up playing defense), he would be the sure-fire WR1 in the class. I completely understand if someone would rather take Tetairoa McMillan as the first WR off the board in rookie drafts because they know he’s not going to line up at DB.
“T-Mac” does everything well. He can line up all over the formation, is a skilled route runner, tracks the ball well, and is a natural hands catcher. Additionally, McMillan has great body control to make spectacular catches look routine as well as good run-after-the-catch ability—especially for someone at 6’5’’. If there’s one area to knock, it’s his top-end speed. If he runs a sub-4.50-second 40-yard dash, I would expect McMillan to be drafted in the top 10 picks of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Tetairoa McMillan | Draft Outlook
The hype has quieted down a little bit for Tetairoa McMillan, but he still has a very good chance to be drafted in the 1st Round of the 2025 NFL Draft. At worst, he should be selected within the first few picks on Day 2. As such, McMillan should be a 1st round pick in all dynasty rookie drafts.
