Tai Felton | Player Introduction
There have been some highly-rated wide receiver recruits that went through College Park, MD for the Terrapins. Tai Felton is not one them. As a player outside the top 1,000 recruits in the 2021 class, Felton developed into one of the best receivers in school history.
After a meager 28 receptions for 360 during his first two years, Felton took massive leaps over his final two seasons, culminating in a 96-catch, 1,124-yard, 9-TD season, the most receptions and 2nd-most yards in a single season in Maryland history. Felton earned first team All-Big 10 and third team All-American honors while also being named as a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award.

Tai Felton made a name for himself at Maryland with his shiftiness, and he will be able to bring that to the next level. But an even more important part of his game is his YAC ability, as Felton was a big-time chain mover in college, a strength that stands out on a lot of his tape.

From the 4 Round SF Rookie Mock:
In the final round of this mock draft I am looking for upside. With the 1st of my 4th round picks, I took Maryland’s record-setting WR Tai Felton. This smooth 6’2” WR broke D.J. Moore’s school record for catches in a season, bringing in 96 catches for 1,124 yards and 9 TDs. Felton has shown an ability to win against all levels of a defense. He lacks that real top-end speed but has the height and length to make up for it with size and technique.
I have enjoyed watching Felton play this season. He caught my attention early on with his blistering 4-game stretch to open the year. Felton will have the perfect opportunity to catch the eye of an NFL team at the upcoming Senior Bowl. I believe that in this class, he will go somewhere from the end of Day 2 to the beginning of Day 3 of the upcoming NFL draft. The faster he runs in testing, the earlier he will go. I’m happy to scoop him up here in the 4th.

No. 8 Overall Wide Receiver
Tai Felton continues to move up my WR Rankings with each update. Felton is a very good route runner that can create separation all over the field and get open against both zone and man-to-man coverage. With the ball in his hands, Felton is a nightmare to bring down. He also excels in contested-catch situations, showing great body control and strong hands at the catch point. The more I watch Tai Felton, more I am convinced he’s going to off the board in the mid-2nd round of rookie drafts.
Tai Felton | Draft Outlook
There’s a good chance that Tai Felton won’t hear his name called until the third day of the 2025 NFL Draft. It’s not to say that he isn’t talented, but there are a lot of players in his range, so he could get pushed down. Conversely, his NFL Combine testing metrics were near the top across the board, so it wouldn’t be a shock if gets drafted in the 3rd Round either. For fantasy, Felton is likely going to come off the board somewhere in the 3rd round or early in the 4th round, unless he gets Day 2 NFL Draft captial.
