Nerds! The Dynasty Nerds writers are here to provide you with weekly start/sit advice all season long. We will be making our recommendations based on weekly consensus PPR rankings. Here is the Week 10 Running Back Start/Sit from Senior Nerd Mychal Warno.
One thing to keep in mind when making your running back start/sit decisions; it will ALWAYS depend on who your other options are. Don’t take the players below out of (or put them into) your lineup unless the alternatives are worth it.
NOTE: Rankings are sourced from FantasyPros expert consensus expert rankings (ECR) and our terminology is for a 12-team PPR league. So, saying RB2 means top 24, or RB1 means top 12, etc.

RUNNING BACK START/sit
Tyrone Tracy Jr. | New York Giants | RB 14
Week 9 Stats | RB 35 | FPts 7.9 | Att 16 | Yds 66 | Tgts 1 | Confidence 85%
Tyrone Tracy Jr. has been on fire for fantasy managers scoring either a touchdown or rushing for 100 yards in 3 of his last 5 matchups. Next up for Tracy Jr. are the Carolina Panthers who have allowed the most fantasy points to running backs this season.
Tracy has a matchup that should produce RB1 type numbers and is a must start on your fantasy rosters. Per fellow Dynasty Nerd Brad Custer‘s Positional Matchups, Tracy Jr. has the second highest positional matchup for Week 10 with 32% more expected fantasy points over average when facing the Panthers defense.

RUNNING BACK START/sit
D’Andre Swift | Chicago Bears | RB12
Week 9 Stats | RB 19 | FPts 14.2 | Att 16 | Yds 51 | Tgts 6 | Recs 6 | Yds 31 | Confidence 75%
Since Week 4, D’Andre Swift is the RB3 in fantasy points per game. He has been heavily involved in the Bears offense seeing at least 15 touches in all but one game this year—including finding the end zone in 4 of his last 5 games.
Swift now gets a fantastic matchup against the New England Patriots who have allowed the 2nd-most rushing yards to running backs this season. D’Andre Swift should continue to produce RB1 numbers in Week 10.
RUNNING BACK START/sit
Ray Davis | Buffalo Bills | RB 36
Week 9 Stats | RB 14 | FPts 17.0 | Att 4 | Yds 20 | TD 1 | Tgts 2 | Confidence 55%
If you are needing a flex option, I would be looking at Ray Davis. The Bills face a Colts defense that allows the 2nd-most rushing yards per game (149.8). While James Cook is the clear starter in Buffalo, Davis has been able to produce double digit fantasy performances in three of his last four matchups.
RUNNING BACK Start/SIT
Javonte Williams | Denver Broncos | RB 29
Week 9 Stats | RB 30 | FPts 10.4 | Att 12 | Yds 42 | Tgts 3 | Confidence 45%
After a 26.1 fantasy point performance, Williams has had back-to-back disappointing games, being held to under 44 rushing yards. Williams has become an unreliable option for your fantasy team and now Broncos’ Head Coach Sean Payton has stated rookie running back Audric Estime could see a larger workload.
The Broncos now head to Kansas City to face a Chiefs defense that has allowed the 3rd-fewest rushing yards per game (83.9). The Chiefs have also not allowed a running back to score over 13.2 fantasy points in a game. Javonte needs to stay on your bench for Week 10.
RUNNING BACK Start/SIT
Rico Dowdle | Dallas Cowboys | RB 26
Week 9 Stats | RB 8 | FPts 21.7 | Att 12 | Yds 75 | TD 1 | Tgts 6 | Rec 5 | Yds 32 | Confidence 50%
Rico Dowdle had his best fantasy point performance of the season and finished as the RB8 on the week. However, fantasy managers need to pump the brakes on the Dowdle hype train as Dowdle’s Week 10 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles will be much more difficult.
Philadelphia has allowed only one rushing touchdown since their Week 5 bye. Also, with Dak Prescott going to the IR, Cooper Rush will be under center, which will downgrade the entire offense.
SPOTLIGHT | RUNNING BACK Start/Sit
Jonathan Taylor | Indianapolis Colts | RB 14
Week 9 Stats | RB 32 | FPts 8.9 | Att 13 | Yds 48 | Tgts 5 | Rec 3 | Yds 11 | Confidence 55%
Jonathan Taylor is coming off his worst fantasy performance of the season and coincidently that occurred while Joe Flacco was under center. While I am not advocating for fantasy managers to bench Taylor, expectations should be tempered.
Per FantasyPros, Taylor has played two games where Joe Flacco played a majority of the game. In Flacco games, he’s averaged 17 carries for 68 yards and 0.5 TDs.
