NFL Preseason Week Three: Three Takeaways From The AFC

NFL Preseason has concluded! @DanT_NFL is here to take you through the important news and notes from the final weekend for the AFC.

NFL Preseason Week Three is in the books! All 32 clubs across the league were in action the past few days. Even the most dedicated football fan would have difficulty watching every game. Add in the fact that many of our usual starters were sitting, and it becomes near impossible to keep up with all that has happened. Here at Dynasty Nerds, we have you covered! Here are the three key takeaways from the AFC after the final week of preseason action.

Diontae Johnson Injury

Both Diontae Johnson and TJ Watt left Sunday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions with injuries. After attempting to make a diving catch along the sideline, Johnson favored his shoulder. Early reports are that neither of these injuries will affect either player’s status for Week 1. However, dynasty managers should be aware that the injury is out there. Any lack of availability for Johnson would boost the week one projection of Claypool and rookie George Pickens.

Denzel Mims Trade Block

Reports coming out of New York last week are that Denzel Mims is asking to be traded as he has been buried on the Jets’ depth chart this season. Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and rookie Garrett Wilson are all slated to see the field before him this year. Mims is in his third season after being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. He has less than 500 receiving yards through two seasons, and a new home may be the best thing for both him and the Jets.

Malik Willis Signs Of Life

After being benched in Tennessee’s first preseason game, Malik Willis has continued to show progress in his ability as an NFL quarterback. This past weekend he went 15 for 23 for 11 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added 79 yards on the ground on only four attempts. That included a breakaway run of 50 yards. He still has a lot of room to improve as a quarterback, but his mobility has never been in question. He will hopefully take advantage of a much-needed year on the bench in 2022. A name for dynasty managers to remember as a potential buy low during the regular season.
