Jordan James | Player Introduction
Eugene, OR is a long way from Murfreesboro, TN, but that didn’t stop the former top-200 overall recruit in the class of 2022 from choosing the Ducks over SEC powerhouse programs like Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. During his 3 seasons in the yellow and gold, Jordan James continually improved. He eclipsed the 750 rushing yard mark in his sophomore season on only 107 rushing attempts.
In 2024, James continued his improvement. He rushed for 1,267 yards and 15 TDs, the 3rd-most yards in a talent-filled Big 10 conference. Not only was James a rushing threat, but he added 26 receptions for 209 yards, showcasing his versatility. Jordan James helped lead the Oregon Ducks to an undefeated regular season and earned third team All-Big 10 honors along the way.

No. 24 Overall Prospect | Ranked as RB10
Jordan James made a name for himself in the backfield of the top-ranked Oregon Ducks this season. The powerfully built running back pounded a stout Penn State run defense in the Big Ten Championship Game, but his injury and subsequent lack of production in Oregon’s first playoff game led, in part, to their loss to Ohio State. James has the physical running style to run between the break tackles, but he also has the speed to take runs to the outside. He is effective in short-yardage and goal-line situations and projects as a dependable early-down back in the NFL. While he lacks elite speed, his toughness and efficiency make him an appealing prospect for NFL teams.

No. 26 Overall Prospect | Ranked as RB10
Jordan James posted career highs across the board in 2024 with 1,267 yards rushing and 15 TDs. He also showed himself to be a capable pass catcher, hauling in 26 passes on the year. He is one of those players that could see a quick rise up draft boards based on landing spot.
Mike Johrendt’s Top 50 Rookie Big Board
No. 31 Overall Prospect | Ranked as RB12
Full disclosure – Jordan James is a “My Guy” this year, as I really like his well-rounded game. While his speed won’t blow anyone away, he broke out this year after spending time behind Bucky Irving at Oregon. Patient but decisive, I’m all over drafting James near the end of your rookie drafts.
Tristan Cook’s Pre-NFL Combine Rankings
No. 10 Overall Running Back
I have consistently been lower on Jordan James than many people. He does a lot of things well but doesn’t do anything at an exceptional level. He has good vision and quickness but once again, long-speed is a question.
Jordan James | Draft Outlook
After an underwhelming NFL Combine, Jordan James and his draft stock are heading the wrong direction. With the incredible depth of this RB class, James will likely fall to Day 3 of the NFL Draft. For fantasy, his draft outlook will largely depend on his path to early, meaningful playing time. Right now, he’s a mid-round lottery ticket in your rookie drafts.
