Jaydon Blue | Player Introduction
Despite not receiving any postseason recognition or awards, Jaydon Blue was a weapon for the Texas Longhorns. However, the former No. 6-ranked RB recruit in the 2022 class seemed to impact the game through the air more than on the ground. His 42 receptions were the 11th-most by a running back in the entire country. He turned those into 368 receiving yards and 6 TDs to go along with 730 rushing yards and 8 TDs on the ground.
Playing at the University of Texas, Jaydon Blue was sparingly utilized throughout his career. His 134 rushing attempts in 2024 (the most of his career) was the 124th-most in the country. For reference, Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty rushed the ball 240 more times than Blue this year, which would be the 11th-most rushing attempts in the country on its own.

Jaydon Blue is one of my favorite receiving RBs in the class. In 2024, he managed to haul in 42 passes for 368 yards and 6 scores. That was in addition to 730 rushing yards and 8 TDs. I could see a coach like Sean Payton making excellent use of a player with this type of skillset.

Jaydon Blue is a unique prospect in this draft class as he does not have a ton of production or starting experience under his belt. Blue started only 5 out of 37 career games in college, but did average 83.3 yards rushing in games where he had double-digit carries. I was a little surprised that Blue elected to declare for the NFL Draft given he was overtaken this year on his own team. However, Blue did show some great receiving skills with over 40 receptions this season.

Jaydon Blue is one of the best receiving backs in this draft class. He has top-tier speed out of the backfield and demonstrated the ability to make plays down the field. He could see early work as a third-down or PPR back.
Jaydon Blue | Draft Outlook
Heading into the NFL Combine, Jaydon Blue had his eyes set on breaking his former teammate Xavier Worthy’s 40-yard dash record of 4.21 seconds. Surprisingly, he “only” posted a 4.38s time. For a player known to have top-tier speed, it was a disappointment. During his pro day, Blue improved his time to 4.28s. His likely draft slot will be sometime during Day 3 of the NFL Draft. His dynasty draft stock is likely a late-3rd or 4th-round pick that you take for the upside of his PPR potential.
