Jaxson Dart | Player Introduction

Despite being the Gatorade National Player of the year in 2020 and the 69th-best recruit in the 2021 class, Jaxson Dart was lightly recruited out of Corner Canyon HS in Draper, UT. He chose USC, the only premier program that offered him a scholarship. He started 3 games for the Trojans as a true freshman but transferred to Ole Miss prior to his sophomore year. Dart struggled a bit with consistency during his first year as a starter but significantly improved in 2023.

He threw for 3,364 yards with 23 TDs and only 5 INTs, adding another 391 yards and 8 TDs on the ground. He came back for the 2024 season and turned things up a notch, throwing for 4,279 yards with 29 TDs and 6 INTs. Once again, he displayed his rushing ability, adding 495 yards and 3 more TDs. This earned him first team all-SEC honors as well as being a finalist for the Manning and Johnny Unitas awards.

No. 12 Overall Prospect | Ranked as QB3

Rounding out my 1st round I am heading back to the QB position. Jaxson Dart has been a name that has been floating around numerous draft circles. Many analysts and scouts alike believe that the QB from Ole Miss could hear his name called in the 1st Round of the upcoming NFL Draft. And, why not? Last year, Dart lit up the SEC for 4,279 passing yards with a 29:6 TD to INT ratio. He also chipped in 495 rushing yards to boot, showing his dual threat potential.

There are a couple QBs in this category. He wasn’t in my earlier rankings, but with all the chatter about his draft stock I am willing to stick my neck out a little bit here. His dynasty stock will take a big shift one way or another after free agency and the NFL Draft. Keep an eye on how he does at the NFL Combine, as he may be one of the biggest name QBs to actually throw at the event. Dart will sort himself out by the end of the draft process and we will be able to adjust our draft board accordingly.

No. 13 Overall Prospect | Ranked as QB3

This isn’t the year that you want to “need” to draft a quarterback, as this year’s class is weak. But, if you are looking for value, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart should earn consideration in your 2nd round. While his tape has some concerns, he is one of the more pro-ready QBs this year because of his ball placement, pocket mobility, and anticipatory throwing style.

No. 17 Overall Prospect | Ranked as QB4

Jaxson Dart is known for his strong arm and his ability to extend plays, making him an intriguing prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. His improved decision-making and pocket awareness have boosted his draft stock in some draft circles, though concerns about his consistency and accuracy under pressure remain. Dart projects as a developmental quarterback with a high upside, particularly for teams willing to refine his mechanics and harness his dual-threat capabilities.

Tristan Cook’s Pre-NFL Combine QB Rankings

No. 3 Overall Quarterback

The most recent draft darling shooting up QB rankings is Jaxson Dart, the former Ole Miss Rebel. There has even been some buzz about Dart potentially sneaking into a top-15 pick come April. Personally, I think he’s more likely to go sometime in the 2nd Round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart has solid arm strength, is capable of making off-platform throws, generally shows good accuracy and anticipation, and possesses above-average athleticism.

However, Dart also struggled with consistency in his accuracy and didn’t perform well against some of the better defenses he faced. Jaxson Dart doesn’t have any one skill that overwhelms you like many of the other QBs on this list. Conversely, Dart doesn’t have many holes in his game. He has the best chance to succeed in a system that lets him get out of the pocket and use his athleticism rather than one that asks him to sit back and pick apart a defense. Landing spot and scheme fit will be particularly crucial for Jaxson Dart.

Jaxson Dart | Draft Outlook

Since the end of the season, Jaxson Dart has ascended up NFL Draft boards and dynasty rookie rankings. Most recently, he cracked Mel Kiper’s big board as the No. 18 overall player (ESPN+). Because quarterbacks tend to get pushed up in the draft, he’ll likely get drafted in the 1st Round. It’s possible that his momentum will slow, but I would be surprised if he’s on the board after the end of Day 1. For fantasy, Jaxson Dart will take a major leap up SF rookie boards if he’s drafted inside the top 10-15 picks. He could get as high as the No. 5 spot in SF drafts.
