Harold Fannin Jr. | Player Introduction
Most football players dream of ending their career in Canton, OH. Not many start their football career at the home of the Pro Football hall of Fame. But, that’s the case for Harold Fannin Jr. To say he was an unknown TE recruit coming out of McKinley HS would be an understatement. Not only was Fannin not ranked as a prospect but he was recruited as a linebacker.
His rise to prominence began in 2022 when he caught 19 passes for 218 yards and 1 score. It culminated in a dominant bowl game performance where he caught 17 passes for 213 yards and a TD in one game. That game capped off a historic 2024 season in which Fanning caught 117 passes for 1,555 yards and 10 TDs.
His spectacular year earned him numerous honors. Fannin was named First Team All-American, MAC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-MAC, as well as being a finalist for the Mackey Award (best TE) AND the Biletnikoff Award (best receiver). Furthermore, he set 21 records for the Bowling Green Falcons and has the 7th-most receiving yards and 10th-most receptions by a TE in FBS history.

No. 19 Overall Prospect | Ranked TE3
The third TE on my 2025 Rookie Big Board and the second in the second round, Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. was college football’s top tight end this past season. The junior caught a whopping 117 passes for 1,555 yards and 10 TDs, as he was force-fed targets as the team’s best pass catcher. Fannin seems to run with his feet in concrete at times as he does not have great speed, but he is a big target and can eventually grow into a TE1 for a team.

No. 22 Overall Prospect | Ranked TE3
Harold Fannin Jr. is one of the more divisive prospects in this class. Most scouts and analysts either love him or they think he has no chance of succeeding at the next level. The undersized TE out of Bowling Green was an absolute weapon for his team in 2024. His 1,555 receiving yards were by far the most in the nation for a TE. If you’re thinking that he just bloated his numbers with big games against small schools, think again. He put up back-to-back massive games against No. 9 ranked PSU (11/137/1) and No. 25 ranked Texas A&M (8/145/0). Here in the 2nd round I am willing to gamble on a player with these types of numbers.

No. 40 Overall Prospect | Ranked TE5
Tristan Cook’s Pre-NFL Combine TE Rankings
No. 3 Overall Tight End
Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. absolutely dominated this year. Including bowl games, he put up 1,555 yards receiving, which was nearly 200 more than the next closest player and over 300 more than Tyler Warren (the 2nd-highest TE). After his Senior Bowl weigh in, Fannin measured nearly identical to former Ole Miss TE, Evan Engram. As we have seen with Engram, all it takes for fantasy relevance is utilization as a receiver more than a blocker. Fannin has all the makings of fantastic fantasy TE.
Harold Fannin Jr. | Draft Outlook
Harold Fannin Jr.’s draft stock will largely depend on how the NFL views him. After posting solid measurables at the NFL Combine, he ran an underwhelming 40-yard dash time. If a team views Fannin as a receiving weapon, he could sneak into the later part of Day 2 of the draft. However, on the other side of things, Fannin could fall into the middle of Day 3 if teams have concerns over his size. For fantasy, his value will largely be landing-spot-dependent. The 3rd round of rookie drafts is where I’d expect to see Harold Fannin Jr. go off the board.
