Devy Stock Watch Week 4

Week 4 had plenty of close calls and good games. I will talk about players’ stock up, stock down, and players to keep an eye on. Let’s take a look at players that stood out in Week 4.

Week 4 showed college football returning to normal with not as many upsets. Some close contests went to the very end. This week had plenty of high-scoring matchups and great individual performances. Let’s look at the Devy Stock watch for Week 4.

Stock Up

Blake Corum- RB, Michigan

  • Height- 5’8
  • Weight- 200
  • Draft Eligible- 2023
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: OVR 36; RB 14

Blake Corum gets lost in the shuffle for the 2023 running back class, but he has had a great season and had a massive week against Maryland. Corum was the complement to Hassan Haskins last year, but this year is the number one option. Against Maryland, the offense relied on him with 30 carries. Corum has the speed to take it the distance on any play but is also stronger than his size would suggest. He could move up to get day two draft capital if he stays healthy.

Israel Abanikanda- RB, Pittsburgh

  • Height- 5’11
  • Weight- 215
  • Draft Eligible- 2023
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: OVR 61; RB 23

In the first week of the season, Israel Abanikanda did not have a big game, but since then, he has been relied upon by the Panthers’ offense. He has averaged 25 carries and over 150 rushing yards in the last three games. Abanikanda shows good vision and is a good receiver out of the backfield. You could always see flashes of his talent, but the Panthers would always rotate backs. Now that he is getting the touches, his stock should go up even in this talented running back draft class.

Jalon Daniels- QB, Kansas

  • Height- 6’0
  • Weight- 203
  • Draft Eligible- 2023
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: Not Currently Ranked

Kansas has been a big surprise so far this year, and one of the reasons is duel threat quarterback Jalon Daniels. He has had at least 80 yards rushing in the last three games and three or more touchdowns. Against Duke, he had his first game of over 300 passing yards, and with a completion percentage of over 70, he is someone to keep an eye on for the rest of the season.

Players To Keep Eye On

Ja’Corey Brooks- WR, Alabama

  • Height- 6’2
  • Weight- 190
  • Draft Eligible- 2024
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: OVR 62; WR 17

Alabama has been looking for one of its wide receivers to step up to be a consistent threat for the offense. It was against Vanderbilt, but Brooks had the best game of his career. Obviously, Bryce Young is a great quarterback for Alabama, but we saw against Texas the receivers could not get separation. If Brooks can start stringing together productive games, he moves up devy boards as the NFL is always looking for the next Bama receiver.

D.J. Uiagalelei- QB, Clemson

  • Height- 6’4
  • Weight- 250
  • Draft Eligible- 2023
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: OVR 64; QB 20

Last season was a disappointment for D.J. Uiagalelei as he struggled the whole season. The beginning of the season has been better, but there are still questions about the Clemson passing game. This week, he had his most productive game in a shootout against Wake Forest. Uiagalelei has had ten touchdowns to only one interception this season, but he still needs to improve his 64% completion percentage. He has a big game against NC State this week. If he performs well against the Wolfpack, DJU may be back on devy radars.

Stock Down

Spencer Rattler – QB, South Carolina

  • Height- 6’1
  • Weight- 200
  • Draft Eligible- 2023
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: OVR 45; QB 12

Last year, Spencer Rattler lost his job to Caleb Williams, and a change of scenery is needed. So far at South Carolina, Rattler has not been able to do much to help his draft stock. He has two touchdowns to five interceptions and only has one game over 230 passing yards. Even in his two games against lower-level competition, he has not been impressive. There are offensive line issues with the Gamecocks, but it is hard to see his stock going up this season.

Dontayvion Wicks- WR, Virginia

  • Height- 6’1
  • Weight- 210
  • Draft Eligible- 2023
  • Dynasty Nerds Ranking: OVR 135; WR 50

Dontayvion Wicks had over 1,200 receiving yards last year, but many had questions after a coaching change for Virginia. The offense has taken a step back; through four games, Wicks has under 200 receiving yards. Wicks needed a big year to help his stock for the NFL. Wicks may be destined for a late-day three pick without a second productive season.
