LAST WEEK
The biggest win of my Week 14 article was, by far, Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears. Fields had 223 passing yards, 58 rushing yards, and two total touchdowns. He finished his QB2 with 24.2 points. Unfortunately, Joshua Dobbs did not fare so well against the Raiders. Dobbs played so poorly that he was pulled from the game in the second half. He finished with 4.6 fantasy points, which put him at QB29.
I could not have predicted what happened with my two sits of the week. Unfortunately, Justin Herbert and CJ Stroud had to leave their respective games early due to an injury in Week 14. Due to their injuries and missing time during their games, both players finish with less than three fantasy points.
WEEK 15 STARTS
Matthew Stafford, Rams, QB7
Stafford is QB17 through Week 14. He struggled early in the season and was only QB20 through Week 9. However, Stafford has turned it around since his bye week. He has been a top-10 QB in each of his last three games. In those three games, he has thrown for ten passing touchdowns.
The Washington Commander’s defense has been historically bad so far this season. They’re last in the NFL, giving up 22.9 FPPG to the QB position. You have given up the fourth most passing yards( 3,613) and a league-most 30 passing touchdowns. An eye-opening stat is that the Commanders have given up more than 30 points in eight of their thirteen games this season.
The Rams have scored over 30 points in their last three games. With the Commanders giving up 39% of the expected P.O.A, this is a plus matchup for Stafford. He has an ECR of QB7, which is a little low this week. Stafford could be a top-five QB this week, so you should feel comfortable starting him in all formats.
Joe Flacco, Browns, QB20
Veteran quarterback Flacco has been the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns for the past two games. He has thrown for a total of 565 yards and five touchdowns. Flacco finished QB13 and QB10, respectively, in his two games. After Week 14, Flacco was named the starting QB for the rest of the season.
The Bears have done well as of late, going 3-1 in their last four games. For the season, the Bears are 16th in the NFL in points allowed to QBs giving up 17.6 FPPG. The Bears only gave up 12.5 FPPG to QBs in those four games. The question is, are the Bears improving, or is the success due to the competition? One thing going against the Bears is they have given up the third most passing touchdowns this season.
Flacco has outperformed the expectations of most in the fantasy community. His ECR in week 15 is QB20. He will look to build upon his success in the last two weeks against the Bears. Flacco should be considered a streaming option in 1QB leagues and a must-start in SF leagues.
WEEK 15 SITS
Tua, Tagovailoa, Dolphins, QB12
Tagovailoa is QB12 So far this season. He has seven top-12 weekly performances and four sub-top 24 weekly performances. He is fourth in the NFL with 24 passing TDs. Which Tagovailoa will we get in week 15?
The New York Jets defense has been the only bright spot in New York. In the last five weeks, the Jets are third in the NFL, giving up 12.2 FPPG to QBs. The Jets have only allowed 2,401 passing yards this season. The defense will look to keep the Jets in the game once again.
Tagovailoa only had 9.8 points in their week 12 matchup against the Jets. He has an ECR of QB12. I would sit Tagovailoa in 1QB leagues, especially with Tyreek Hill not being 100%.
Jared Goff, Lions, QB13
So far this season, Goff is QB13. He has had four top-ten performances so far this season. He has slowed down lately, not having a game over 20 points since Week 10. Goff has eight total turnovers and has been sacked ten times in the past four games.
The Denver Broncos have turned it around in the second half of the season. In the last five games, the Broncos are ninth in the NFL, allowing 16.1 FPPG to the QB position. The Broncos have only given up one 20-plus-point game since Week 5. The Broncos have only allowed four passing touchdowns in their last five games.
Goff has an ECR of QB13. Week 15 is a perfect storm, with the Broncos being on the uptick and the Lions struggling lately. With Goff’s struggles as of late, I recommend only starting him in SF leagues and sitting him in 1QB leagues.
