Another Incredible Season of Service and a Tremendous Champion

Recapping the 2023 championship of the Dynasty Nerds Give Back charity league.

Our Dynasty Nerds Give Back charity dynasty best ball league stands as a shining example of how our passion can be transformed into a force for service to the community. The league, now in its third season, is a 72-team, 6-division, best-ball dynasty league. You can read about the founding of the league here.

This unique league not only celebrates the spirit of competition but also the spirit of giving. The league supports three charitable causes – The V FoundationNo Kid Hungry, and Disabled American Veterans. The managers in the Dynasty Nerds Give Back league raised over $2,000 for these organizations this year. In all, the league has raised over $7,000 for our three charities since its inception three years ago.

Service To Our Charities

First, the V Foundation, famously founded by legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano, is dedicated to cancer research.

Since its formation in 1993, the V Foundation has awarded over $310 million in cancer research grants nationwide and has grown to become one of the premier supporters of cutting-edge cancer research. Due to generous donors, the Foundation has an endowment that covers administrative expenses. 100% of direct donations fund the best and the brightest scientists, from all backgrounds, who are researching all cancer types.” – V Foundation’s Website

Next, No Kid Hungry works tirelessly to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and worldwide.

No Kid Hungry is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and worldwide. After 25 years of successfully investing in local nonprofits and helping find the best approaches to eradicating poverty and hunger, Share Our Strength launched No Kid Hungry in 2010. As a child hunger organization, ending childhood hunger is our primary focus, though Share Our Strength continues to invest in and develop other campaigns”. – No Kid Hungry’s Website

Finally, the wonderful people at Disabled American Veterans provide a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations.

We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.” – Disabled American Veteran’s Website

The Season and the Champion

This year’s season featured seventy-two managers competing and demonstrating exceptional dynasty skill and strategy. Why? Because they’re all Nerd Herd members, of course!

Rosters consist of twenty players, each with a four-player taxi squad. After the regular season, we begin the playoffs. The top eight scorers from Week 15 move on to round two in Week 16. The top two scorers then move on to the finals in Week 17.

The league culminated in a gripping finale where Joe Dziadosz emerged as the champion, defeating Eric Nelson in a memorable showdown.

To summarize, two astute pre-draft trades marked Joe’s journey to the top. First, he traded Ty Chandler, Christian Watson, and pick 1.09 for Tua Tagovailoa and pick 1.11. Then, he traded Andy Dalton, Zonovan Knight, and pick 3.09 for pick 2.08. With those picks, Joe landed breakout rookies De’Von Achane with pick 1.11 and Tyjae Spears with pick 2.08.

Here is a screenshot of Joe’s winning roster. Having Christian McCaffrey on your team often leads to success in clinching a title. Doesn’t it? Furthermore, to reach the finals, we should probably acknowledge Amari Cooper’s remarkable performance during the semifinals.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up another successful season, our focus shifts to the future. Like most dynasty leagues, there will be some attrition. We will need to find new managers for orphaned teams. The Nerds Give Back league is no different. Please email us at NerdsGiveBack@DynastyNerds.com if you are interested in taking over an orphaned team.

Notably, the Dynasty Nerds Give Back league focuses on more than just winning; it’s about making a positive impact through the game we love. Our league is a powerful example of how sports unite people for a noble purpose. Join me in offering heartfelt congratulations to Joe Dziadosz for his well-deserved victory and a sincere thank you to all participants for making this another extraordinary season. Joe joins our past winners, Joshua Klug and Mike Valentine.
