START | Week 14 Running Back Start/Sit
Tony Pollard | Tennessee Titans | RB 12
Week 13 Stats | RB 32 | FPts 8.8 | Att 8 | Yds 35 | Tgts 6 | Confidence 70%
Tony Pollard had a disappointing performance last week for fantasy managers. However, Pollard is in a great spot to for a bounce-back performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs.
Jacksonville is fresh off allowing Joe Mixon to finish as the overall RB6 in FPPG in Week 13. Fantasy managers do not need to worry about the return of Tyjae Spears, as Pollard accounted for 92% of the Titans’ opportunities last week.
START | Week 14 Running Back Start/Sit
Isaac Guerendo | San Francisco 49ers | RB 19
Week 13 Stats | RB 35 | FPts 8.6 | Att 4 | Yds 19 | TDs 1 | Tgts 1 | Confidence 70%
Isaac Guerendo is the next man up in the 49ers backfield after Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason were placed on injured reserve. Guerendo has been an efficient runner this season. Guerendo has a 99-yard rushing performance and an 85-yard game in relief of Jordan Mason.
In Week 14, Guerendo faces off against the Chicago Bears. Since Week 8, (per Fantasy Pros) the Bears have allowed the third-most rushing yards per game, the sixth-highest explosive run rate, the second-highest yards per carry to zone runs, and the seventh-highest rushing success rate to zone runs (Guerendo 76.2% zone).
START | Week 14 Running Back Start/Sit
Tyrone Tracy Jr. | New York Giants | RB 17
Week 13 Stats | RB 17 | FPts 14.5 | Att 9 | Yds 32 | TDs 1 | Tgts 3 | Confidence 75%
Since Week 5 when Tracy took over the role as the Giants’ lead running back, he only has three games where he did not achieve double-digit fantasy points. His Week 14 matchup against the New Orleans Saints is excellent, as they allow the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs.
I have Tyrone Tracy Jr. as my RB11 in my top 50 rankings for the week and would start him with confidence to produce as an RB1 for your fantasy team.
SIT | Week 14 Running Back Start/Sit
Gus Edwards | Los Angeles Chargers | RB 27
Week 13 Stats | RB 54 | FPts 4.3 | Att 6 | Yds 32 | Tgts 1 | Confidence 40%
In Week 13, Gus Edwards took over as the lead back in Los Angeles, replacing J.K. Dobbins, who was placed on injured reserve. While Edwards led the team in rushing attempts with six, he was not fantasy-viable, scoring only 4.3 fantasy points.
In Week 14, Edwards gets the Kansas City Chiefs, who have allowed the fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. Even with several running backs on bye, keep Gus Edwards on your bench.
SIT | Week 14 Running Back Start/Sit
Kareem Hunt | Kansas City Chiefs | RB 28
Week 13 Stats | RB 56 | FPts 3.5 | Att 7 | Yds 15 | Tgts 4 | Confidence 40%
Week 13 saw the return of Isiah Pacheco to the Kansas City offense. He immediately saw 50% of the team carries and that workload will continue to grow in Week 14. Hunt probably won’t see enough work moving forward to be a reliable start, especially heading into the fantasy playoffs.
It also does not help that Kansas City faces the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers rush defense has allowed the sixth-fewest points per game to running backs.
SPOTLIGHT SIT | Week 14 Running Back Start/Sit
Chuba Hubbard | Carolina Panthers | RB 19
Week 13 Stats | RB 63 | FPts 2.3 | Att 12 | Yds 43 | Confidence 50%
I know it is a hard decision to sit Hubbard, as he is the RB15 overall in FPPG this season. However, Hubbard has a difficult matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Over the last 4 weeks, Philadelphia is allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points to running backs.
Per Fantasy Pros, The Eagles haven’t allowed a top-10 running back performance all year and have only given up four rushing touchdowns, along with the fourth-fewest fantasy points. I understand with six teams on a bye it may not be possible to sit Hubbard, but if it is feasible I would do so.
