One thing to keep in mind when making your Week 13 wide receiver start/sit decisions; it will ALWAYS depend on who your other options are. Don’t take the players below out of (or put them into) your lineup unless the alternatives are worth it.

Week 13 Wide Receiver PPR Rankings by Tristan Cook

START | Week 13 Wide Receiver Start/Sit

Michael Pittman Jr. | Indianapolis Colts | WR 12

Week 12 Stats | WR 16 | FPts 15.6 | Tgts 7 | Rec 6 | Yds 96 | Confidence 85%

I may sound like a broken record by the end of this year, but the main thing I am looking for in my Week 13 wide receiver start/sit recommendations is players with opportunities for production. The best indicator for upcoming production is targets. Michael Pittman Jr. is in line for an uptick in targets with the likely absence of Josh Downs.

Despite an anemic passing offense overall, Pittman was able to put up an impressive performance. This week, Indianapolis faces off against a below-average New England pass defense. Without Downs in the lineup, I expect Pittman to feast. His weekly ECR is WR 38 but I think he’s in line for a much better finish. Start him with confidence this week.

START | Week 13 Wide Receiver Start/Sit

Ladd McConkey | Los Angeles Chargers | WR 5

Week 12 Stats | WR 21 | FPts 14.3 | Tgts 6 | Rec 6 | Yds 83 | Confidence 70%

The analysis on my third start, Ladd McConkey, is simple. His opportunity for production has been steadily increasing. Over the last two weeks, McConkey finished as WR16 and WR20. This week, the Chargers play the 7th-worst pass defense in the league (Atlanta).

McConkey’s ECR for the week is WR15. However, I think he’s going to do much better than that. With the injury to J.K. Dobbins, I expect the Chargers to heavily rely on the quick passing game. Ladd McConkey excels in the quick game, and I expect him to excel against the Falcons.

START | Week 13 Wide Receiver Start/Sit

Jordan Addison | Minnesota Vikings | WR 23

Week 12 Stats | WR 1 | FPts 30.2 | Tgts 9 | Rec 8 | Yds 162 | TDs 1 | Confidence 85%

Jordan Addison was on the start list last week and finds himself here again. Despite his monster week against the Bears, the ECR has Addison ranked all the way down at WR38. The analysis from last week holds true in Week 13. Opposing defenses have keyed in heavily on trying to slow down Justin Jefferson and subsequently, Jordan Addison benefitted.

The matchup this week with the Cardinals is favorable. Arizona ranks in the bottom half of the league in passing yards allowed per game. Wide receiver 1 overall is a bit lofty, but I have Addison ranked well above his consensus ranking.

START | Week 13 Wide Receiver Start/Sit

Garrett Wilson | New York Jets | WR 9

Week 12 Stats | Bye Week | Confidence 85%

The last start, Garrett Wilson, has been a target monster all year. Even after the trade to acquire Davante Adams, Wilson is a heavily-involved part of the Jets’ offense. In fact, since the Adams trade, Wilson’s 41 targets are only 1 fewer than Adams’. This week, New York faces Seattle.

The Seahawks are not a pass defense that scare NFL teams and they shouldn’t scare you. Wilson is coming off two of his worst games of the season, which would explain why the ECR has Wilson ranked at WR19. I’m expecting a big week for Wilson.

SIT | Week 13 Wide Receiver Start/Sit

Jaxon Smith-Njigba | Seattle Seahawks | WR 30

Week 12 Stats | WR 13 | FPts 19.7 | Tgts 7 | Rec 6 | Yds 77 | TDs 1 | Confidence 15 %

My first “sit” this week is on the opposite side of the field. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been on a tear of late. His 31 targets over the last 3 weeks is tied for 5th-most in the NFL. Subsequently, he finished as WR1, WR9, and WR13 over that span. So, why do I have him on the sit list? It’s simple. The matchup.

The New York Jets allow the second-fewest passing yards per game. Conversely, they are a bottom-half rush defense. I expect the Seattle Seahawks to utilize a more run-heavy offense this week. When they do pass, the stout New York secondary will be waiting. If you must, start JSN with caution.

SIT | Week 13 Wide Receiver Start/Sit

Zay Flowers | Baltimore Ravens | WR 29

Week 12 Stats | WR 32 | FPts 11.2 | Tgts 8 | Rec 5 | Yds 62 | Confidence 10%

The last player on my list is another wide receiver with a very tough matchup. Baltimore squares off with Philadelphia this week. The Eagles only allow 0.6 more yards per game than the aforementioned New York Jets’ pass defense. While Philly does have a good run defense, they are worse against the run than the pass. Furthermore, the bread-and-butter of the Baltimore offense is the run game.

These two teams also have the top two run offenses in the NFL. I expect the passes in this game to be few and far between. Flowers could sneak into the top 36 receivers, but I’m fading him this week.
