Nerds! The Dynasty Nerds writers are here to provide you with positional start/sit advice all season long. We will be making our recommendations based on weekly consensus PPR rankings. Here is the Week 13 Quarterback Start/Sit from Senior NFL Nerd Mike Hicks.
One thing to keep in mind when making Week 13 Quarterback start/sit decisions; it will ALWAYS depend on who your other options are. Don’t take the players below out of (or put them into) your lineups unless the alternates are worth it.

ANTHONY RICHARDSON I V. NE I 14.7 FPPG I ECR QB11 | NERDS QB5 I 90% CONFIDENCE
Welcome back to the roller coaster that is Anthony Richardson’s fantasy season. In his first 2 games back from being benched, Richardson has 29.1 and 13.0 fantasy points, respectively. In week 11, Richardson had his highest completion percentage at 66.7%, according to Fantasy Points Data Suite. But his biggest upside is his legs. Richardson has rushed for a TD in two games this season. And it is no surprise that those two weeks were his biggest fantasy performances of the season.
In week 13, the Indianapolis Colts will face the New England Patriots. The Patriots have given up 18-plus fantasy points to QBs in 3 of their past 4 games. According to our Data Nerd Brad Custer’s (@moncalFF) Positional CheatChart, Anthony Richardson has an extremely favorable matchup against the Patriots. The Patriots are expected to allow 30% more fantasy points than Richardson’s average. Richardson is a player that you can’t just plug and play in your lineups every week. But in Week 13, put him in your lineups in all fantasy formats. He has the upside to be a top-10 QB against the Patriots.

MATTHEW STAFFORD | V. NO | 14.9 FPPG | ECR QB14 | NERDS QB15 I 65% CONFIDENCE
Matthew Stafford has had a resurgence as of late, scoring 18-plus fantasy points in 4 of his last 5 games with 12 of his 15 passing touchdowns having come in that stretch of games (FPDS). The Los Angeles Rams are still leaning heavily on Stafford in 2024. Stafford has the 5th-most pass attempts in the NFL with 385. Can Stafford continue his recent fantasy success in Week 13?
New Orleans is known as a party city. However, this weekend the Los Angeles Rams are there for one thing, business. The New Orleans Saints are a neutral matchup this week, where they are expected to give up only 1% more fantasy points than Stafford’s average (CheatChart). Stafford is projected for .36 EXP FP/DB, ranked 29th (FPDS). The Saints are also a plus matchup for running backs, so it could be more of a run-heavy offense this week. With Stafford’s recent success, you might be trying to put him in your lineups—not so fast. Yes, I am starting Stafford in Superflex leagues, but in 1QB leagues, sit him if at all possible.

BRYCE YOUNG I V. TB I 9.1 FPPG I ECR QB27 | NERDS QB23 I 70% CONFIDENCE
Keep Pounding! That is exactly what the Carolina Panthers’ Bryce Young has been trying to do since being reinserted in the lineup in Week 8. For the season, Young has 134.5 PaYPG and 5 TD. All 5 of his passing TDs have come in his 2nd stint as starting QB. He is not an elite QB, but he has absolutely shown signs of improvement in the past several weeks. Since Week 8, Young has had a Completion Percentage Over Expected (CPOE) of +1.4%. Even though it is not elite, that is a massive improvement from his 1st stint as QB where his CPOE was -12.2%—dead last in the NFL (FPDS). Since Week 8, Young has had 3 weekly performances as a top-24 QB.
Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers will battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a divisional matchup. Bryce Young has shown improvements as of late. Unfortunately, the same cant be said about the Buccaneers defense. The Buccaneers have struggled against QBs all season. They are giving up the NFL’s 3rd-most 275.2 PaYPG (FPDS). Bryce Young will have a plus matchup in Week 13 according to our CheatChart. The Buccaneers are expected to allow 34% more than Young’s average. According to The Dynasty Nerds GM Tool he is projected for 15.10 fantasy points. I expect Young will need to throw to keep the Panthers in the game, and if it gets out of hand, we could have a lot of garbage time throws for Young. He could have a top-20 performance in Week 13, and I recommend playing him in your Superflex lineups only. Start him over guys like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.

DRAKE MAYE I V. IND I 15.5 FPPG I ECR QB19 | NERDS QB12 I 75% CONFIDENCE
Drake Maye became the New England Patriots starting QB in Week 6, and had back to back top-10 QB performances. Since then, it has been a mixed bag of fantasy football results. So far in 2024, Maye has 182 PaYPG, 10 TDs, and 7 INTs. His 65.5% completion rate is 2nd among NFL rookie QBs (FPDS). At times this season, he has seemed to struggle, but has still shown promise as an NFL QB of the future. The Patriots might be lacking in offensive weapons, but Maye has done his best with what he has, even if it hasn’t show up in the win column.
The New England Patriots will play the Indianapolis Colts this week. The Colts defense is giving up 249 PaYPG (FPDS). The Colts are a slight negative matchup for Maye, where they are expected to give up -6% less than his average (CheatChart). Maye is projected to get 18.3 fantasy points (GM Tool). This week’s performance (and the rest of the season) could do wonders for his overall fantasy value if he can put up a performance that the numbers project. I feel comfortable with Maye as my Superflex QB in Week 13.

RUSSELL WILSON I V. CIN I 16.2 FPPG I ECR QB21 | NERDS QB25 I 40% CONFIDENCE
Since becoming the Pittsburgh Steelers starting QB in Week 7, Russell Wilson has had a cornucopia of fantasy performances. Wilson has 8.1 YPA, 8th in the NFL (FPDS) which is something the Steelers were lacking before he was the QB. One thing Wilson has had his entire career is a strong arm. Wilson has the NFL’s 3rd-highest deep throw rate of 17.4% His ability to act like Harry Houdini on the football field has also been a part of Wilson’s fantasy value so far this season. Wilson has the NFL’s 2nd-highest hero throw rate of 7.4% (FPDS). In his 5 games played, Wilson has 2 top-10 performances and 4 top-4 performances.
In Week 13, the Pittsburgh Steelers face off with division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have given up five 20-plus fantasy point performances to QBs this season. However, 4 of those 5 performances were QBs in the top 5 of rushing yards per game at the QB position (FPDS). Yes the Bengals are a favorable matchup for Wilson in Week 13. But with a 47.5 Over/Under, the Steelers will be looking to slow the pace of game and have a run-heavy gameplan. The Steelers run the ball at a rate of 49%, 3rd most in the NFL (FPDS). Wilson seems like he should have a good performance on paper, but I am weary of what his results will be on Sunday.
