One thing to keep in mind when making Week 12 Quarterback start/sit decisions; it will ALWAYS depend on who your other options are. Don’t take the players below out of (or put them into) your lineups unless the alternates are worth it.
Top 26 Quarterback Rankings by Mike Hicks
NOTE: Rankings for Week 12 Quarterback Start/Sit are sourced from FantasyPros expert consensus expert rankings (ECR) and our terminology is for a 12-team PPR league. So, saying QB1 means top 12, or QB2 means top 24, etc.

GENO SMITH I V. ARI I 17.8 FPPG I ECR QB10 | NERDS QB4 I X% CONFIDENCE
Another week, and another division matchup for the Seattle Seahawks and Geno Smith. In Week 11, Smith finished as QB19 with 221 yards and 1 INT. He also rushed for the game-winning touchdown in the 4th quarter. Smith is averaging 278.1 PaYPG, which would be the highest average of his career. He is currently 6th in completion rate at 69%, according to Fantasy Points Data Suite. So far this season, Smith has a 1:1 TD/INT ratio (FPDS), which is obviously not ideal this far into the season.
The Seattle Seahawks will face a division foe in Week 12—the Arizona Cardinals. According to our Data Nerd Brad Custer’s (@moncalFF) Positional CheatChart, the Cardinals are expected to allow 11% fewer fantasy points than Geno Smith’s season average. Our Dynasty Nerds GM Tool has him projected for 20.62 fantasy points. Smith is projected to score 1.54 more than his Sleeper projections, which is the biggest plus differential in our projections. A lot can change in one week. Last week, I was staying away from Smith in fantasy. But for Week 12, the tides have changed. Go ahead and start Smith in all formats, including 1QB leagues.

JARED GOFF I V. IND I 18.2 FPPG I ECR QB8 I NERDS QB11 I X% CONFIDENCE
The Detroit Lions offense has been biting kneecaps, all the way to a 9-1 record. Jared Goff is QB11 in FPPG. In 6 of 10 games, Goff has scored under 16 fantasy points, but in Week 11, was QB1 with 34.6 fantasy points (FPDS). Goff has the league’s 3rd-highest completion rate of 73.3% and 4th in Adj. Completion rate of 79.7% (FPDS). Goff has been very efficient this season. He has 20 TD, and a QB rating of 112.1.
The Detroit Lions travel to Indiana to face the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday. The Colts have given up 5 sub- 18-point performances to quarterbacks this season. Goff is expected to have 5% less than his average against the Colts (CheatChart). The Lions have a pass-to-run ratio of 50%. The 50% run rate is the 2nd-highest in the NFL. Our projections have Goff scoring 16.46 (GM Tool). The Lions are currently a -7.5 favorite against the Colts. I expect the Lions to go up early and lean on the running game. In Superflex leagues, you should absolutely start Goff, but I recommend sitting him in 1QB leagues this week.

TOMMY DEVITO I V. TB I 0.0 FPPG I ECR QB22 I NERDS QB17 I X% CONFIDENCE
Here we go Nerds! Tommy DeVito has been named the starting quarterback of the New York Giants after the benching of Daniel Jones. Devito is not a stranger to playing QB for the Giants. In 2023, he played in 9 games. In those games, DeVito had 1,101 passing yards, 8 TDs, 3 INTs, and a completion rate of 64% (FPDS). The question he will look to answer is “Can he be a better option than Daniel Jones?”
The Giants face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12. Coming off the bye week, they face the best positional matchup and are expected to earn 28% more points than the Giants average at QB (CheatChart). According to FPDS, the Buccaneers defense has allowed the NFL’s 3rd-most passing yards (283.5 PaYPG) and the NFL’s 5th-most passing TDs (20). Devito has the upside of a top-20 QB in Week 12, and with bye weeks being heavy this week, I recommend putting him in your Superflex lineups.

MATTHEW STAFFORD I V. PHI I 14.5 FPPG I ECR QB16 I NERDS QB21 I X% CONFIDENCE
Matthew Stafford showed signs of his old self in Week 11 against the New England Patriots. Stafford only had 27 passing attempts, his 3rd-fewest attempts in a game this season. Stafford ended the game with 18 completions, 295 yards, and 4 TDs. Unfortunately, his statistics are not sustainable with that many dropbacks. Over 30% of his touchdown production in 2024 came in Week 11. Stafford is averaging 255.7 PaYPG through 11 weeks.
The Los Angeles Rams will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12. Sometimes, the matchups matter more in football than the specific players themselves. And this one for Stafford might be a doozy. The Eagles are giving up the NFL’s 2nd-fewest passing yards, giving up an average of 192.3 PaYPG (FPDS). Stafford has the most disadvantageous matchup, according to Brad Custer’s CheatChart. The Eagles are expected to give up 36% less than Stafford’s per-game average. I know it might be hard to do so this week, but if possible, sit Stafford in all formats. If you have to start him, make sure to temper expectations.

BO NIX I V. LV I 18.3 FPPG I ECR QB6 I NERDS QB9 I X% CONFIDENCE
Keep rollin’ rollin’ rollin’! The Denver Broncos—and more importantly, Bo Nix—have been on a roll as of late. Since Week 5, Nix has shown his worth as a starting NFL quarterback, even as a rookie. Since then, Nix has had the NFL’s 8th-best completion rate of 68.9% (FPDS). In that same time frame, Nix has 13 TDs, 2 INTs, and is QB5 in points per game (21.8).
You might be wondering why Bo Nix, who is in the top 10 of this week’s Fantasy Pros ECR (Expert Consensus Rankings), is my spotlight player of the week. It is more about the future than the present. With one more big performance, Nix could solidify himself having the 2nd-best performance this season from a rookie QB. In our Dynasty Nerds rankings, Nix is currently dynasty QB21, and with another big performance in Week 12, we could start seeing him as a top-20 dynasty QB. Possibly top 15 by the 2025 season. I am starting Nix in all formats this week against the Las Vegas Raiders.
