This entry is part 1 of 6 in the series Week 10 Start/Sit by Positions

Nerds! The Dynasty Nerds writers are here to provide you with weekly start/sit advice all season long. We will be making our recommendations based on weekly consensus PPR rankings. Here is the Week 10 Quarterback Start/Sit from Nerd Writer Mike Hicks.

One thing to keep in mind when making Quarterback start/sit decisions; it will ALWAYS depend on who your other options are. Don’t take the players below out of (or put them into) your lineups unless the alternates are worth it.

NOTE: Rankings are sourced from FantasyPros expert consensus expert rankings (ECR) and our terminology is for a 12-team PPR league. So, saying QB2 means top 24, or QB1 means top 12, etc.

DANIEL JONES I V. CAR I 14.5 FPPG I ECR 16 I 85% CONFIDENCE

What’s more New York than a pastrami sandwich from Katz Deli? New York Giants fans waiting for Daniel Jones to become the quarterback they thought they drafted. Jones has had a sporadic season fantasy wise. He has thrown for 208.9 YPG, 8 TD, and 5 INTs. Through 9 games, Jones has 4 top-12 weekly performances. According to Fantasy Points Data Suite Jones is QB26 in FPPG. But wowsers, his team hasn’t done their part either, having the highest drop rate in the NFL at 8.6% (FPDS).

It’s not the holiday season quite yet, but in Week 10, the New York Giants seem to have been given a gift. The Giants and Daniel Jones are facing the struggling Carolina Panthers. According to our Data Nerd Brad Custer‘s (@moncalFF) DPOA Chart (Defensive Percentage Over Average), the Panthers are a plus Matchup for Jones with 10% fantasy points over expected average. The Panthers are giving up 238.8 PaYPG, and the NFL’s 3rd-most TDs with 18 (FPDS).

The Carolina Panthers have struggled on defense all season long. They are giving up 19.6 FPPG to QBs (FantasyPros). The Panthers can NOT get to the QB this season. They have a pressure rate of 22.5% which is last in the NFL (FPDS). According to our Dynasty GM Tool, Jones is projected for 19.09 points. Go ahead and start Jones with confidence in Superflex leagues, and if you are considering him in 1QB leagues, go ahead and plug him in, too.

PATRICK MAHOMES I V. DEN I 16.8 FPPG I ECR 9 I 55% CONFIDENCE

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are 8-0 but on field success doesn’t always lead to fantasy football success. Mahomes is averaging the league’s 11th best 242.8 PaYPG (FPDS). Ball security has been an issue all season long for Mahomes, throwing 9 INTs through 8 games (FPDS). The deep throw has not been a part of Mahomes’ arsenal in 2024. Through Week 9, he has the NFL’s lowest deep throw attempt rate at 5.9%, with 16 attempts. This could improve with the newly acquired DeAndre Hopkins getting involved in the passing game.

Welcome to the Red Kingdom! The Kansas City Chiefs will welcome the Denver Broncos to Arrowhead in Week 10. The Broncos defense has been holding their own all season. They are giving up 206.4 PaYPG, the 6th-fewest in the NFL (FPDS). According to Brad Custer’s DPOA Chart, Patrick Mahomes is expected to have 4% less production than average. Mahomes has only had 2 weeks with over 18 fantasy points this season (FPDS). According to our projections, he will score 4.25 points less than Sleeper’s projections (GM Tool). Obviously, he is a must start in Superflex leagues, but if you can afford to—try to sit Mahomes in 1QB leagues.

SUPERFLEX QUARTERBACK START/sit

RUSSELL WILSON I V. WAS I 19.8 FPPG I ECR 21 I 70% CONFIDENCE

Since the Pittsburgh Steelers named Russell Wilson the starter in Week 7, the Steelers’ offense looks like they are firing on all cylinders. Since entering the lineup in Week 7, Wilson is averaging the league’s 5th-most 271.0 PaYPG and has a 63.2% completion rate (FPDS). Wilson has weapons George Pickens and Najee Harris at his disposal, but don’t forget about the Steelers acquiring Mike Williams at the trade deadline.

The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to the nation’s capital to face the Washington Commanders in Week 10. The Commanders defense has stepped up at times this season, but that doesn’t mean Russell Wilson can’t have success on Sunday. The Commanders have given up 18-plus fantasy points in 5 games this season (FPDS). With injuries and bye weeks aplenty right now, Wilson is a must-start in Superflex leagues with the upside to have a top 15 performance in Week 10.

SUPERFLEX QUARTERBACK start/SIT

AARON RODGERS I V. ARI I 16.0 FPPG I ECR 15 I 65% CONFIDENCE

Being a New York Jets fan might be more frustrating than trying to hail a taxi cab during NYC rush hour traffic. Aaron Rodgers has struggled at times but had a bright spot in Week 9, finishing with 20.3 fantasy points. Rodgers is averaging 234.1 PaYPG and has 15 TDs, 5th most in the NFL (FPDS). Garret Wilson has stepped his game up as well since Devante Adams arrival, which is starting to pay dividends for Rogers and the Jets overall.

The New York Jets will travel to the desert to battle the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10. The Cardinals are a slight negative matchup for Aaron Rodgers, where they are expected to give up 5% less than average to Rodgers(DPOA). The Cardinals have given up 17.9 FPPG to QBs (FPDS). However, they have stepped it up recently, allowing 12.9 FPPG in the last 3 games. Go ahead and keep Rogers on your bench in 1QB leagues. In Superflex leagues, you might have to play him due to Bye weeks and injuries. So beware and keep your expectations limited if you put him in your Superflex lineups.

WEEK 10 SPOTLIGHT | QUARTERBACK start/SIT

C.J. STROUD I V. DET I 15.2 FPPG I ECR 17 I X% CONFIDENCE

Houston, we may have a problem. The Houston Texans are 6-3, despite the fantasy football struggles of second-year QB C.J. Stroud. After being a draft season darling, Stroud is 22nd in QB FPPG. Stroud is averaging 237.7 PaYPG and has 11 TDs. He has only scored 18 plus fantasy points in 3 of his 9 games in 2024. He has been without Nico Collins since Week 5 and Stefon Diggs since his Week 8 injury. And unfortunately, those losses are showing in Stroud’s play.

C.J. Stroud will look to show fantasy managers that his rookie season was not a fluke. The Detroit Lions are a neutral matchup for Stroud (DPOA). Stroud is projected for 17.9 fantasy points according to our projections (GM Tool). So, why is Stroud my spotlight player of the week? This might be Stroud’s last chance to prove he is fantasy relevant this season. And for dynasty owners, this could be the time to trade him, depending on your team’s needs. Go ahead and keep Stroud on your bench in 1QB leagues if you possibly can.
