Nerds! The Dynasty Nerds writers are here to provide you with weekly start/sit advice all season long. We will be making our recommendations based on weekly consensus PPR rankings. Here is the Week 7 Quarterback Start/Sit from staff writer Mike Hicks.
One thing to keep in mind when making Quarterback start/sit decisions; it will ALWAYS depend on who your other options are. Don’t take the players below out of (or put them into) your lineups unless the alternates are worth it.
NOTE: Rankings are sourced from FantasyPros expert consensus expert rankings (ECR) and our terminology is for a 12-team PPR league. So, saying QB2 means top 24, or QB1 means top 12, etc.

KIRK COUSINS I V. SEA 15.7 FPPG I ECR 12 I 80% CONFIDENCE
Rise Up! Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons have the offense on track, averaging 33.3 PPG in their last 3 contests. The Falcons’ weapons are starting to fire on all cylinders. Yes, the running attack was on fire last week, but this week should be the passing game’s turn. Cousins is QB14 and has a completion percentage of 66.7%. Cousins has an ADOT of 7.7, according to Fantasy Points Data Suite, which is partially because he leads the league with 61 pass attempts between 10 and 19 yards.
The Atlanta Falcons face the Seattle Seahawks at home in Week 7. The passing matchup in Atlanta is hotter than their early-2000s rap scene. According to Brad Custer (@moncalFF)’s POA (Percent Over Average) chart, the 2nd-most advantageous for QBs in Week 7. That, along with an Over/Under of 51, makes me even more confident in Cousins’ outlook against the Seahawks. Do your fantasy lineups a favor and start Kirk Cousins in all fantasy formats this week.

BROCK PURDY I V. KC I 18.0 FPPG I ECR 9 I 60% CONFIDENCE
A San Francisco treat is exactly what Brock Purdy has been for the San Francisco 49ers, but can he keep it up in Week 7? Purdy is QB12 in FPPG, even though he is 3rd in passing yards at 271.5 YPG. He has 2 top-10 performances, where he passed for 3 TDs in each. Overall, Purdy has 4 top-15 performances in 2024. He has the 4th-highest pressure rate at 41.7% amongst QBs, with a minimum of 50 dropbacks (FPDS). Even with that, Purdy has the 6th-lowest pressure sack rate at 13.3%.
The San Francisco 49ers will host the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. The Chiefs matchup is not on Purdy’s side. According to the DPOA chart, the Chiefs defense is giving up -12% over average. The Chiefs defensive pressure rate is 5th in the NFL at 36.6%. Purdy won’t be a complete bust in Week 7, but the matchup and game script will likely not be in his favor. I expect Mr. Irrelevant to finish around QB15 this week. Go ahead and start Purdy in Superflex leagues, but you should sit him in 1QB leagues.

JUSTIN HERBERT I V. ARI I 11.4 FPPG I ECR 23 I 70% CONFIDENCE
The Chargers are a different team in 2024 than they have been in past seasons. Coach Jim Harbaugh has turned the pass-heavy Chargers offense from past seasons into a run-heavy team. Justin Herbert has thrown for 815 yards and 6 passing TDs. The Chargers have the lowest pass rate in the NFL at 48.6%(FPDS).
Even though Justin Herbert has not thrown as much in 2024, his Week 7 matchup against the Cardinals bodes well for him. According to Brad Custer’s DPOA chart, the Cardinals are giving up 12% over average to QBs. The Cardinals are giving up the NFL’s 2nd-highest pass completion at 71.8% (FPDS). Can Herbert and the Chargers bolt up this week? Absolutely! I recommend starting Herbert this week in Superflex formats.

ANTHONY RICHARDSON I V. MIA I 13.1 FPPG I ECR 15 I 40% CONFIDENCE
Anthony Richardson has found it challenging to stay on the field during the first two years of his NFL career. Week 7 will be his first game since being injured in Week 4. Richardson has massive fantasy upside, however, so far in 2024 has shown more of the “downside” to his game. Richardson has the lowest completion rate of 50.6% amongst QBs with a minimum of 50 dropbacks (FPDS). Richardson’s best attribute is his playmaking, and he is averaging 35.3 RuYPG. The Indianapolis Colts have the weapons on the outside—if Richardson can get them the ball.
According to the DPOA chart, Richardson has the worst matchup at -37% for QBs when he faces the Dolphins. Before his injury, Richardson had one game in 2024 with a top-12 fantasy performance. I want to see what Richardson can do coming off of a two-game absence due to injury. Due to injuries and bye weeks, you might have to start Richardson in superflex leagues, but if you can help it, I recommend sitting him in all formats for Week 7.

AIDAN O’CONNELL I V. LAR I 7.4 FPPG I ECR 27 I 45% CONFIDENCE
Aidan O’Connell will start his 2nd game of the season for the Las Vegas Raiders against the Los Angeles Rams. In Week 6, O’Connell finished as QB24 with 227 yards and 1 touchdown. The Rams are giving up 18.5 FPPG, the 10th-most in the NFL (FantasyPros). O’Connell will be looking to take a grasp on the starting quarterback job for the Raiders.
Las Vegas is a gambler’s Paradise and that is exactly what you would be doing if you automatically start Aidan O’Connell in Week 7. However, if you need to start him in Superflex leagues, he could be viable with the matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The spotlight is on Aidan O’Connell to prove that he can be a viable fantasy asset, and I expect his floor to be at the back end of the top 24 in weeks to come.
