That’s Going to Leave a Mark – Week 12 Injury Report

The fantasy season comes to a close for several NFL players. @JohnnybgoodeFF assesses the long term impact for these players, as well as addresses the more minor injuries suffered during Week 12

Michael Carter – Ankle Sprain, 1-2 Weeks

Carter left Week 12 early with an ankle sprain. This is being reported as a low ankle sprain but on the inside of the ankle. This is a very unusual area to sprain as there is less motion to this area and significant boney support from the medial malleolus. Due to this boney support, it’s not unusual to fracture the medial malleolus before spraining the ligaments in this area. That being the case, I imagine that Carter sits this week and is truly 50/50 for Week 14

Travis Etienne – Foot, Week-to-Week

When I heard “foot” and saw Etienne was not returning to the game, I immediately thought he may have aggravated the foot injury he suffered last season. As it is, he was medically cleared to return, but the Jaguars were being cautious with their star running back. Expect Etienne to return this week without issues, but keep an eye on his foot injury going forward.

Damien Harris – Thigh, Week-to-Week

The nature of this injury remains unknown at the time of this article. Harris is reportedly week-to-week, but I’d expect him to be out of Thursday’s game this week. Without details as to what specifically this injury is, it’s difficult to comment on how this impacts Harris, or especially Stevenson, over the next several weeks.

Najee Harris – Abdominal Injury, Unknown

Harris left Monday night’s game with an abdominal injury, with specifics largely unknown. To speculate, this could be an oblique strain, which I imagine would keep him out for 1-2 weeks. Worst case scenario, this could be a hernia injury, which could end his season. Regardless, Harris hasn’t looked very dynamic this season and was outplayed by the third and fourth-string running backs on the Steelers this last week. It may be time to hit the panic button on Najee Harris’ dynasty outlook.

Elijah Mitchell – MCL, 6-8 Weeks

Kyle Shannahan is projecting 6-8 Weeks for Mitchell after he reaggravated his MCL injury. This suggests a Grade II tear to the ligament. Mitchell’s fantasy season is over, and with CMC taking the reigns in SF, his dynasty value has also likely seen its peak. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mitchell undergo some kind of surgery this offseason, but expect him to be 100% come next season.

Jakobi Meyers – AC Joint Sprain, Week-to-Week

A sprain to the AC joint is largely a pain tolerance issue at this point for Meyers. He may have difficulty moving his shoulders through the full range of motion, which is, of course, important for a wide receiver. I would expect him to get a shot before the game and play through this injury.

Darnell Mooney – High Ankle Sprain, Season Ending

A sprain to the AC joint is largely a pain tolerance issue at this point for Meyers. He may have difficulty moving his shoulders through the full range of motion, which is, of course, important for a wide receiver. I would expect him to get a shot before the game and play through this injury.

Allen Robinson – Foot – Season Ending

This was an injury not suffered during play of Week 12, but rather it was revealed after the game that Robinson’s injury would require surgery. It’s time to move on from Robinson, but I would expect him to make another go at it in 2023, assuming his foot surgery goes well.
