Bottom of the Barrel – Week 4 IDP Waiver Wire Adds

Week 4 is upon us! @IDP_Baumer run through the list of potential IDP waiver wire adds with his latest article!

Some big things were happening in IDP Fantasy this week. We lost two Walkers, Anthony and Tracy, to season-ending injuries. This article will go over who you should add to replace them and a few other potential waiver targets.

Defensive Line

Deatrich Wise, NE

Week 3 Stats: 44 snaps (73%), 40 pts

Wise has been quietly dominating at defensive end this season. He is averaging over 80% snap share, which is significant for a defensive end, especially in New England. He’s been around for a while and has never truly broken out. I guess it’s better late than never, right? Wise has shown some flashes in the past but has never really been consistent. Because of this lack of consistency, I’m not champing at the bit to drop a lot of FAAB on him this week. However, if you’re in a deeper league or your team has been hit with the injury bug, Wise is worth dropping 3-5% of your FAAB.

Melvin Ingram, MIA

Week 3 Stats: 57 snaps (62%), 28 pts

Ingram hasn’t been fantasy relevant since 2017, but that’s not stopping him from finding new life in Miami. He’s playing about as much as a second-year pass rusher, Jaelan Phillips, and having a better season. Ingram has a favorable matchup against the Bengals upcoming, and he plans to use him as a streaming option. Drop maybe 1-3% FAAB on him since we’re talking dynasty here, and he’s getting up there in age.

Rasheem Green, HOU

Week 3 Stats: 36 snaps (57%), 17 pts

Green is a player I mentioned early last season as a potential waiver add, and then he proceeded to do nothing until the end of the season. He’s now with the Texans and appears to have found new life and some potential consistency. He’s worth a dart throw, a streaming option, but don’t spend too much FAAB.

Linebackers

Jacob Phillips, CLE

Week 3 Stats: 46 snaps (78%), 21 pts

Anthony Walker went down with a quad injury on Thursday and will miss the rest of the season. Phillips is already accustomed to wearing the green dot, as he did so during much of the preseason. If he’s not already rostered, Phillips will be a “must add” this week. Three-down linebackers are hard to come by, so he’s worth dropping 10-15% of your FAAB if you need some help at LB.

Akeem Davis-Gaither, CIN

Week 3 Stats: 54 snaps (69%), 24 pts

Germaine Pratt missed last week with a knee injury. It’s possible he misses more time. If he does, then Akeem Davis-Gaither is a decent flex option. He was the clear replacement next to Logan Wilson. Don’t spend too much FAAB on him, though… maybe 1-3%.

Darius Harris, KC

Week 3 Stats: 62 snaps (87%), 22 pts

Willie Gay still has three games left on his four-game suspension. Harris was his clear replacement on Sunday, and he’ll have some flex appeal until Gay returns, but not much after that. If you’re in a deeper league and need depth, add Harris, but don’t use much FAAB.

Dylan Cole, TEN

Cole is a desperation move if you’re looking for a replacement for Cunningham should his elbow injury cause him to miss time. He’s a free add in deeper leagues but nothing more.

Defensive Backs

JuJu Huges, DET

Week 3 Stats: 63 snaps (88%), 13 pts

On Sunday, the IDP community lost one of its best, Tracy Walker, to a torn Achilles. Much like when these things happen to offensive players, it’s the next man up in Detroit; that next man is Huges. He stepped into the free safety role and produced decent DB3 numbers. If you’re looking for a replacement for Walker, throw 1-3% FAAB his way.

Richie Grant, ATL

Week 2 Stats: 71 snaps (100%), 26 pts

If you’re like me, you probably cut Grant to make room for this year’s rookies. He had an underwhelming rookie season, never really making it into the starting role. He’s now the starter and has shown that he can be a solid DB2 option. If he was cut by someone or not drafted in this season’s startup drafts, then he’s someone you should add for roughly 5-7% of your FAAB.

Julian Love, NYG

Week 2 Stats: 64 snaps (100%), 18 pts

I’ve had Love on my radar for some time as a sleeper. I roster him in a few deeper leagues, and he’s served me well. Now it’s time to pass along this secret to you all. Love has been playing every down as the Giants’ strong safety. After three weeks, he’s coming in at .29 points per snap and is only one point behind Derwin James in points this season.

The Wrap-Up

These are just a few players I think are worth adding to your rosters. I hope this article helps you fill some voids on your teams and helps you win your weeks!
