Week Two is in the books for the NFC North! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.
Restore The Roar In Full Effect
For many bettors, the Detroit Lions were an off-season favorite, and their mantra of #RestoreTheRoar is in full swing right now. Jared Goff threw four touchdowns in Sunday’s 36 – 27 victory over the Washington Commanders. Before Monday night’s doubleheader, Amon-Ra St. Brown and D’Andre Swift are both top-two at their positions in half-PPR leagues. Jared Goff makes an excellent buy in Superflex leagues, especially for those still convinced Detroit will finish with a top pick in the NFL draft.
Bears Are Playing A 1940’s Offense
Justin Fields attempted only 11 passes on Sunday night. Let me say that again; Fields only attempted 11 passes in an NFL football game. This is not great for any Chicago pass-catchers. This was not much of an outlier, considering he attempted only 17 passes in a victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Week One. Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet may not be viable fantasy options for quite a while. The two of them have combined for only two receptions on the season. Fantasy managers hope for better days, but Mooney and Kmet must stay benched for now.
Packers’ Offense Will Run Through Jones & Dillon
The offense in Green Bay runs through the running back position. In Sunday Night’s win over NFC North rival Chicago, AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones combined for 33 rush attempts and six targets. No other pass catcher on the Packers saw more than four targets. Jones is tied with Sammy Watkins for the team lead in routes this season. Both Dillon and Jones will be fantasy-viable week after week this season. God forbid one would get injured; the other would have a top-five running back upside. Jones is an excellent buy high for a contender, and Dillon would be great for either contenders or rebuilders to pick up as Jones has an out on his contract this offseason.
Primetime Kirk Strikes Again
Kirk Cousins and primetime football games do not go well together. The Vikings quarterback historically falters when playing on national television, and Monday night’s 24-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles will keep that streak alive. Cousins finished the game with three interceptions and was primarily the reason for the defeat. Thankfully, the Vikings only have one primetime game left on the schedule. Next week Minnesota goes back to playing in the afternoon, and we can go back to enjoying Justin Jefferson as a WR1.
Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. Some key fantasy football players call the NFC North home. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
