Week Two is in the books for the AFC South! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.
Trevor Lawrence Like A Phoenix
Doug Pederson is doing wonders for this Jacksonville Jaguars team and, more specifically, Lawrence. In a crucial AFC South matchup, the Jaguars shut out the Colts with a 24-point victory. Lawrence had a career-high 121.5 passer rating. He was able to eclipse 200 yards for the second straight week and added a pair of touchdowns. Was Urban Meyer the only thing holding the highly-touted prospect back? It looks like it may be the case.
Colts Concerns
The other side of this past Sunday’s AFC South matchup was disappointed. The Indianapolis Colts are winless through two weeks, and it looks like they are getting Matt Ryan on the downward arc of his career. Ryan could only complete 53% of his passes against the Jaguars while adding three interceptions to the stat sheet. The lack of a passing game also took its toll on the ground attack, as Jonathan Taylor had one of the most inefficient games in his young career. Hopefully, the return of Michael Pittman Jr. can help right the ship. Otherwise, it will be a long season for Colt’s dynasty managers.
Dameon Pierce Bellcow Season Is Here
Pierce was one of the great hype trains over the summer of 2022. That train was derailed in Week One when Rex Burkhead ate most of the opportunities in this Texans offense. Week Two was a different story. Pierce out-snapped Burkhead 39-22 in a close loss to the Denver Broncos. Pierce was also highly efficient with the workload, averaging over four yards per carry and over 3.5 yards after contact per attempt. This is an excellent start to the season for the late-round rookie.
From First To Worst
It wasn’t very long ago that the Tennesse Titans were the number one seed for the AFC, hosting the Cincinnati Bengals for a divisional round matchup. They are playing a rookie third-round quarterback just seven months later to cap off a 41-7 blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills. How the mighty have fallen. Ryan Tannehill looks worse than he did in Miami and Derrick Henry looks every bit like a 28-year-old running back whose best days are behind him. Tennessee has much cause for concern for the rest of the 2022 season. The bright spot for dynasty purposes is that we may know more about Malik Willis sooner than we thought.
Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top. Be sure to check back with us, as we will be breaking down takeaways from every division this week. And be sure to come back next week, as we will be doing the same for all 18 weeks of the 2022 NFL season!
