Week Two is in the books for the NFC West! We must focus on the top takeaways now that we have film and statistics to study. No longer can we rest on our offseason takes of who will succeed and who will fail. We now have an entire two weeks of NFL football to study. We can lead our team to a fantasy football title by focusing on weekly top takeaways! The fantasy season will move quickly, and in a dynasty, it is essential to acquire players before they break out or unload players before they falter.
Trey Lance’s Season Has Come To An End
This past Sunday, Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury. This is unfortunate news for the young player, as many in the football community were looking forward to a breakout season. By the time Lance returns in the 2023 season, it will have been nearly four years since he has played full-time football. He had his breakout college season in 2019. North Dakota State didn’t play football in the fall of 2020, and then Lance rode the bench in 2021. You have to wonder if the absence of game time will affect the young man. We here at DynastyNerds wish him nothing but the best.
Seattle Offense Returns To Struggling
The Seattle Seahawks failed to score an offensive touchdown in Sunday’s 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Their sole touchdown came on a blocked kick in the third quarter. Geno Smith could not break 200 yards passing, and none of the running backs broke 20 yards on the ground. This offense struggled to get anything going in Week Two. From a fantasy perspective, Tyler Lockett was the sole producer with nine receptions for 107 yards. This may be the story of the season for the Seahawks, and dynasty managers should adjust their expectations accordingly.
Cardinals A Committee Without Conner
We saw Conner leave the field Sunday with an ankle injury. Eno Benjamin fans everywhere have been waiting for this opportunity. Unfortunately, this backfield will devolve into a committee with Conner in the lineup. Both Benjamin and veteran Darrel Williams saw eight carries in Conner’s absence. Williams was far more efficient with the work given to him. That is something fans of the third-year player out of Arizona State don’t want to hear. If Conner were to miss time, we can expect more of the same during next week’s matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.
Rams Turning Into A Committee
There seems to be a theme forming in the NFC West this week. After only playing a handful of snaps in Week One, Cam Akers saw a much bigger workload in Week Two. Darrell Henderson and Akers split the snap share 56%/43% in an almost perfect committee. In even worse news, the carry stats are not to be believed at first glance. Akers took on 15 carries compared to Henderson’s ten. However, Akers’s touches came between the 20s in what we would call low-value work. Henderson saw his limited carries near the goal line. What are we to do with this backfield? Time will tell, and we must remain patient, but it is hard to start either of these players.
Information is the most powerful tool any dynasty fantasy football manager possesses. If you can stay on top of the correct information more than your league-mates, you will come out on top.
